25 Best Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Adults
Updated: Jan 18
Every year, my family members each pick one stocking stuffer for everyone and we purchase 8 of them so each adult gets that item in their stocking. My family still loves to do stocking stuffers and it’s not fair to make my parents purchase stocking stuffers for everyone.
It has been a great family tradition for the past 10 years that our spouses and children have joined. Although, we do get the children different items for their stockings.
We have all come up with some fun and useful stocking stuffers that do not break the bank. When you are buying stocking stuffers for adults, you can get really creative. I’ve found myself in the toy aisle purchasing stocking stuffers for my family.
I wanted to share some great stocking stuffer ideas for the adults on your list.

Here I have compiled the 25 Best Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Adults.
1. Deck of Cards
This is one of the games I love to add to stockings. Cards get old after a while, so it never hurts to grab a new pack for someone's stocking.
2. Dryer Balls
A few years back I made the switch from dryer sheets to dryer balls and I will never go back. Dryer sheets are filled with chemicals and my children and I have very sensitive skin. I noticed our skin was less irritated after I stopped using dryer sheets. Just remember, if you add dryer sheets to the dryer with your dryer balls, it will ruin your dryer balls. You could always add a few drops of essential oils to your dryer balls for a fresh scent.
3. Hand Sanitizer
Such a hard item to get your hands on during these crazy times. Earth Mama carries hand sanitizers and other products that you will love. They are small enough to toss in your purse and someone's stocking.
4. Fuzzy Socks
During the winter, I basically live in warm fuzzy socks. I have a giant selection and find myself tossing socks whenever they start to get worn down. You could buy a pack of socks and give one pair to each family member. A few years back, all the dance teachers did a sock exchange at my dance studio and we each got a new pair of socks to wear home. There are so many gift options with socks.
This may seem like a boring gift, but everyone can use a new toothbrush. You should be changing your toothbrush out every 3 months, so you can never have enough spare toothbrushes in the house. Your family members will be happy to have new brushes. You can even pick up some Steri-Pods to go with the toothbrushes.
6. Puzzle Book
I decided to include a few different options of puzzle books for this one. My favorite is Sudoku puzzles, but I also included Crossword Puzzles, Word Search, and Trivia Challenges. Many people like to keep these books in the bathroom, but you don't have to recommend that when you buy one as a stocking stuffer.
Many people will argue that they have their phone flashlight if the power goes out or if they have a need for a flashlight. Your phone flashlight is not very powerful and if you have a power outage, you will not want to waste your phone battery by using the flashlight app. These strong flashlights are great to keep in the house and everyone should have one.
8. Lip Balm
If you live in cold areas, chapped lips are inevitable. Lip Balm is small and will fit perfectly in a stocking. Any of these brands will be a great gift for the holidays.
9. Tree Ornament
Why not buy your friends and family ornaments for Christmas. There are so many options to choose from that you're bound to find the perfect ornament for everyone on your stocking stuffer list.

10. Pack of Gum
Large variety packs or plastic containers of gum can make some of the best stocking stuffers. I like to wrap my stocking stuffers, but everyone can always guess when I get them packs of gum. The bonus is gum is not more clutter to add to someone's house.
You can find many flavor options of mints. I prefer peppermint flavor, but you can find many others that suit your needs. Just let the recipient know this is not you telling them their breath stinks... or is it!
12. Face Mask
During the current pandemic, we are wearing masks every time we are out in public. I am constantly rotating masks out of my purse and washing masks with every laundry load. It doesn't hurt to buy more masks and put a mask in everyone's stocking. Just another mask to add to their growing collection.
13. Eye Mask
Eye masks are much different than face masks and actually help you relax. My husband prefers it to be dark at night so I have given him eye masks to wear. If you know anyone who prefers it to be dark at night, consider giving them an eye mask in their stocking this Christmas.
14. Reusable Straws
With the banning of plastic bags and reduction in plastics being used all over the world, straws will be coming up soon on the chopping block. That's why giving out reusable straws for Christmas is a great idea. There are many different styles and materials to choose from. They are not expensive and can be reused for a long time.
15. Portable Charger
My phone dies pretty quickly, even if I'm not using it. I try to close out the apps in the background, but it doesn't always help the battery much. These portable chargers can fit in anyone's pocket or purse to get their phone charge back up. Not many people like to be without their phone when it dies.
16. Reusable Shopping Bags
Back to the reusable items, the reusable shopping bags are a great investment so you do not have to use paper bags. These fold up small and can fit nicely in any stocking. Check out the cute designs too!
17. Stress Balls
As a teenager and in college, I found myself using stress balls when I had anxiety. Studying for exams and dealing with a terrible roommate just added to that stress. Stress balls are great to help calm down someone with a stressful job or who have kids who are driving them crazy. I bet someone in your life would appreciate a stress ball in their stocking.
Depending on the smell, candles can help relax you and get rid of foul odors lingering in the house. I like to light seasonal candles to get into the holiday spirit. Candles are a popular holiday gift and can fit inside a stocking. If you are not sure if they would want a candle, you could also look into diffusers or plug-ins.
19. Corkscrew and Bottle Opener
After the year 2020, I think we all could use a corkscrew and bottle opener. There are many different styles and designs to choose from. Give that special someone a corkscrew and bottle opener in their stocking so they can open that bottle of alcohol they probably need at the end of this year.
20. Measuring Spoons
I was surprised when I learned of the different types of measuring spoons that existed. Magnetic measuring spoons are such a great idea to store up in the cabinet. If you need to get a stocking stuffer for someone who loves to bake, these measuring spoons could be a great addition to their kitchen.
You can't go wrong with chocolate. There is a chocolate flavor for everyone on your stocking stuffer list. I love all of these chocolates below and this year I do not have to go to the mall to buy them.
If you are looking to purchase a scarf for someone for the cold weather or just as an accessory, there are many options to choose from. I love scarves and I have a very large collection in my closet. Just roll up a scarf, tie a cute bow around it, and use it as an awesome stocking stuffer.
No matter where you live, chances are you will need to wear a hat at some point in your life. Give the gift of a cute hat this Christmas by including it in someone's stocking. They will appreciate the thought and will look good wearing one.
One of my favorite features of the gloves I own is that I don't have to take them off while I'm texting. The touch screen gloves have become popular and are much warmer than the fingerless gloves. I still know many people that have not invested in these awesome gloves, so I would definitely recommend putting a pair of these in everyone's stockings this Christmas.
25. Reusable Ice Cubes
I am one of those people who never has ice in their freezer. I'll be honest though, I hate using ice cubes in my drinks. I never understood why you would want to water down your drink just so it could be a little colder. The reusable ice cubes is a great idea because you can chill your drink without watering it down. That is a win-win for me!
I hope you found stocking stuffers to give to the special people in your life.
